21st Bn, CEF-Tuesday, October 1, 1918
On October 1st, the Battalion, less “B” Echelon, Regtl.Transport and Rear Details, moved at 0430 hours from the Hindenburg Support Line to E4.b and d, as per O.O.222. Upon arrival at 0820 hours breakfast was served and the Battalion rested for the remainder of the day. At 1600 hours an advance party of 5 officers and 16 O.Rs proceeded ahead to take over new position. The Battalion followed at 1930 hours and, although there were much bombing by Hostile Aircraft, arrived in their new location in X.14.d at 2200 hours without casualties. The only shelters afforded where Shell and Funk holes. “B” echelon moved at 0530 hours to an Area South-West of Bourlon (E.11.b and 12.b) and was joined by a portion of “A” Echelon at 2100 hours the same night. The weather continue Fair although slightly colder. Lieut J.R. Gill returned from Course on this date. Capt F.D. Raymond, M.C., and Lieut. E.W. Edwards proceeded to England on leave of absence.
