Training as on previous days. Special attention was paid to the different battle formations, intervals, time, etc. Lieuts. E.J.Ford, W.L.Brassey, C.R.Holmes, W.A.Ritchie joined the Bn. At 7.15p.m. in accordance with Operation Order No.49 Companies moved off and proceeded to the Assembly Area. Very little hostile shelling was encountered and the move completed without casualties. Transport and rear Details remained at old location. Weather: Fair.
The battalion detrained at Bullecourt and marched about 3 kilos. To an area just N.W. of Queant. By the afternoon the assembly positions were reconnoitered by the commanding officer and O.O’s Companies. Munitions were distributed and preparations for battle made. The battalion moved to its assembly positions in Slip Trench west of Inchy in D.18.104.22.168. The following officers accompanied the Battalion: – Lieut- Colonel S.D. When relief was completed the battalion proceeded to area where they were bivouacked in fields and battalion Headquarters established. Upon the battalion moving forward to Brigade Support positions in Buissy Switch Line the transport and details left out of the line moved from Brocourt-Queant line to area U.17 b&d. (ref. Sheet 51.B.1 1/4000). Rear Headquarters was located at U.17.d.75.55 (Ref.Sheet 51.B.1/40000).
