When relief was completed the battalion proceeded to area where they were bivouacked in fields and battalion Headquarters established. Upon the battalion moving forward to Brigade Support positions in Buissy Switch Line the transport and details left out of the line moved from Brocourt-Queant line to area U.17 b&d. (ref. Sheet 51.B.1 1/4000). Rear Headquarters was located at U.17.d.75.55 (Ref.Sheet 51.B.1/40000).

The Battalion arrived in new area, after relief, about 4.00p.m. August 15th, but on account of concentration of gas shellings on this area for the previous two hours, the Battalion was moved again through the trenches to new positions. The Gas shelling continues as “A” Company and some of our details passed through the village of Foquescourt, was extremely effective and we were unfortunate in sustaining the following casualties: – Officers: 6, Other Ranks: 36. During the day the enemy heavily shelled the villages of Maricourt, Chilly and Foquescourt. The aircraft of both sides were active. At night the enemy shelling increased and his bombing aircraft continue active.

On October 28th, the undermentioned officers procced on leave of absence to England:- Capt R.J Renison (C.F.) Lieuts. A. Cockerman,D.S.O, R.L.Berry and S.T.Crooks. The following N.C.Os proceeded on this date to England to attend Cadet Course with view of qualifying for commission ranks:- 59918 C.S.M. R.H.Stewart,M.M, 412665 Sergt. F.T.Belyea, 15740 L/Cpl. A.S.Black.
